Music is the answer

I was remembering all the hours I used to spend next to my radio waiting for the perfect song, to record on my cassette, make the perfect playlist, taking it on my walkman, and spending the best times with imperfect quality, unedited sounds and locutors voices. Ahhhh what great times, that was the golden age!!!

How are we living in the music era, how has the UX been changed across these past years and how can we listen to music by streaming on our phones, without the worry about copyrights or internet connections (maybe yes in the freebies) but equally how big is the offer right now with regards to services, apps or webs, to have music in our pockets instantly?

I’ll start when the revolution arrived (sorry it isn’t napster); Grooveshark, a web page with an awful and confusing interface to find, create and listen to music online, how successfully it was or how successful it is right now, believe it or not, it is actually only popular in the North European Countries. Then the gap star to growing and the war starts with the american monster Spotify in the right corner and the french competitor Deezer in the left corner, they will start to sell data plans including the software (app) in your phone, together with network carriers, and presenting you the way to listen music online and the most important thing FREE.

Personally am I a Spotify user, I remember when both of them were having the same service and offer and maybe with different qualities, but personally i found in spotify something special that attracted me to download and keep it from the first time I saw it, the colors and the design. I can be now loyal to something only based on these concepts, that beauty of the UX.

The deeply grey, green and white, simplicity of design and easy way to find music allow me to take that decision, I’m not completely a fan of the app, because it’s annoying how they propose  you regular music on the pre established radio playlist, but I’m impressed by how they use the algorithm to suggest to you similar music when you start the radio from your favorite artist. Now in the free version I can spend all my time listening to good music and new ones on the app, The experience is pleasant because they preload the song and try to keep the continuity when you have bad data signal, offering you a good service even if you are not paying; when you decide to pay the premium version you don’t actually notice the big difference if you are a music lover, offline music, illimitate forwards,  NOT ADVERTISING.

Having a good service, they manage the industry of streaming music, even youtube is trying to enter into this market, for that we can see free music online, metadata helping you discovering new artist, and a growing up service.
